The Equinox has passed and the townsfolk look forward to the nights filled with moonlight that lessens the darkness blanketing the land. The forest stirs with life as creatures both new and old start to awaken. Things that haunt the night and creep within the edges of vision draw ever closer, as if sensing the fear growing in the faltering hearts of the people of Valdarin's Gate.
The undead forces of Lord Vroktis have surrounded the land outside of the town, cutting off Valdarin's Gate from the rest of Kyranthia. The Shadow Fey are growing in number, and while they are keeping the undead from attacking the citizens, their true intentions remain a mystery.
As the denizens of Valdarin's Gate watch the gathering shadows and prepare for whatever is to come, there are some new things that players should be aware of...
*Information Skill Cards*
Ethereal Perception, Rogue Sense, Scholar's Eye, and Speak with Nature are all skills that may give a player special insight into an item or place. You may find yellow cards or packets that have one of these skills listed on the front. You MUST have the stated skill in order to read one of these cards, and you MUST place the card back where you got it from unless it states otherwise. If there are any instructions or an effect listed, you cannot ignore it once you've read the card. If there's a packet with no card you may take it if you have the appropriate skill.
*Purple Light and Spirits*
If you see a person wearing a purple headband and armband, they are in *spirit form* and you can only interact with them if you have the skill Ethereal Perception. At night they will be wearing purple glowsticks and bracelets that should be easily visible. If you do not have Ethereal Perception then you should ignore that person.
*Magic Circles*
Ropelight circles are magical circles that have certain stipulations before you can enter them. DO NOT enter them until you read the plot card that will be placed somewhere on the outside of the circle. If there is no card, do not enter the circle unless you already know the type of circle it is.
*Portals*
Portals are doorways that are bordered with lights. DO NOT enter until you've read the plot card. Usually you must meet some condition, have a certain Trait, or be accompanied by a staff member to enter.
*Traits*
Traits are descriptors that include name, race, class, etc. If you're alive you have the Living trait, if you're undead you have the Undead trait. Some plot cards will grant you traits. If a trait is added to the end of a verbal, then only people with that trait are affected. For example, if you hear "By My Voice, Repel Undead", then you're only affected if you have the Undead trait.
