So there are three ways I've seen the light call and they all do different things. If some one could clarify how it works that would be great.
Cure x wounds: "I call upon the light to cure light wounds. 2 light" this heals 2 body points to living targets, though the word heal is never used. By this logic anything with the light call heals living.
x light: some spells and abilities throw x light via packet. I'm not sure if this heals or damages living.
Light by weapon: weapons enchanted with light swing light damage. By the logic of cure wounds, this would also heal living but I doubt that's how it works.
Also is genesis still a thing?

I am not a staff member. However, I have been with this game since the beginning, my girlfriend I seen her do all of these things. From observation I can tell you the following.
Cure x wounds by that logic it heals living targets and also can damage undead. This may be true as well but from what I noticed, Undead I believe also take more damage than called from light.
X light would damage living from what I have seen, damages undead worse.
Light weapon would not heal living since it is being used in a weapon. You deal more damage to undead with light but also harms living as well.
Some spells I have seen a genesis called. It might be a different light from my understanding, I think it is the same tree.
I can see where it might be confusing by not having the keyword heal in Cure X wounds compared to every other spiritual prayer you can use. However think about the context it is being used. It should make more sense then. Im a nutshell, if you aren't healing living with spiritual prayers.....its going to hurt you.

the heal part of cure light wounds is in the whole "cure" part. light attacks still damage living.

All will be made clearer in the next edition of the rule-book. But the answers above are satisfactory.
